On Wednesday, March 17, your PHS Tigers earned an opportunity to defend their county title by defeating West FL Tech 330 to 95. The championship match for the tournament this year will be Thursday afternoon against BTWHS. If we win that match, it will be our 7th consecutive county championship!

Your PHS Tiger Academic Team is 3-0 in this year's rendition of the COX Communications Academic Tournament. The first round was a forfeit as NHS apparently decided not to make the long drive just to receive a drubbing. Tuesday we played two matches against Washington and Tate. Several of our freshmen got some playing time and scored points in their Cox Comm. tournament.

The PHS Tiger Academic Team defended their title for the fourth consecutive year at the FSU Reigonal Tournament on Saturday, November 1. This year, we were able to field two JV teams and one varsity. The varsity team finished the tournament undefeated and David Fleischauer was named individual points champion for the tournament.

At the 2008 University of Florida Academic Tournament, the team represented well. The Varsity team of David Fleischhauer, Kay Li, Matt Robinett, and Noah Peeri came within 2 questions of winning the championship against Ransom Everglades High School. The JV team of Helie Dharia, Matt Hinton, Melody Dalton, Phi Tran won all of thier matches and defeated an Eastside HS in the finals.

The PHS academic team attended the 19th annual Dorman HS Invitational Academic Tournament. One varsity and two jv teams from PHS attended. After the preliminary rounds were completed our combined record was 12 wins and 3 losses, with both the varsity and sophmore teams finishing the prelims undefeated. The varsity team finished 6th out of 64 and the sophmore team finished 3rd out of 48.
