General Information and History about the Pensacola High IB Program
A Brief History of IB at PHS
Pensacola High School is the first and only school in Escambia County to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The curriculum was initially implemented in 1986, and the first IB class graduated in 1990.
Accomplishments
- Rated by Newsweek magazine as one of the top 40 high schools in America for the last 3 years.
- Recognized four National Merit finalists in 2007, the highest number at any high school in the two-country area.
- Administered the largest number of Advanced Placement exams in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties
- Students attending some of the most elite colleges in the country
- Participation in many local volunteer opportunities and charities
- Running a recycling program at Pensacola High School that keeps paper and plastic out of the landfill. Recycling bins are in almost every classroom for student and teacher use!
- Running an after school tutoring program that helps students in every subject!
- A "Clean and Green" committee that keeps our school grounds beautiful.
